FAQ’S

  • Solid hardwood is made from a single piece of wood and can be sanded and refinished multiple times. It’s best for above-grade, low-moisture environments. Engineered wood is made from multiple layers with a real wood veneer on top — offering greater stability and resistance to moisture, making it ideal for basements, concrete slabs, or areas with fluctuating humidity.

  • Engineered wood is typically better in moisture-prone areas like kitchens and basements. Its layered construction reduces the risk of warping or cupping. While solid hardwood can be used in kitchens with proper sealing, it is generally not recommended for below-grade areas.

  • Installation usually takes 1 to 3 days, depending on the square footage, flooring type, and whether old flooring needs removal. Additional time may be required for acclimation (especially with solid hardwood) and subfloor preparation.

  • Yes. Solid hardwood typically requires 3–5 days of acclimation inside the property before installation to adjust to the indoor humidity and temperature. Engineered wood may require less acclimation but still benefits from 24–48 hours on-site prior to installation.

  • Yes, but solid hardwood usually requires a plywood subfloor and a vapor barrier. Engineered hardwood can be glued or floated directly over sealed concrete with proper underlayment. Our team will evaluate your subfloor and recommend the best installation method.

  • We take precautions to minimize dust and disruption. Existing flooring removal, cutting, and sanding may produce some dust, but we use containment systems, plastic barriers, and vacuum-equipped tools to keep the work area clean.

  • Hardwood floors require regular sweeping, vacuuming with a soft brush, and occasional damp mopping with a hardwood-approved cleaner. Avoid excess water, abrasive tools, or steam cleaners. We also recommend using felt pads on furniture and area rugs in high-traffic zones.

  • While solid hardwood can be refinished multiple times, engineered wood typically has a thinner veneer that allows for 1–2 refinishes depending on thickness. However, engineered wood is more dimensionally stable, making it less likely to expand or contract, which improves its long-term performance in variable climates.

  • Yes. We can match existing hardwood stains or help you choose a custom color for new installations. This is especially helpful when blending new wood with older flooring during partial remodels or additions.

  • Yes. FloorCraft LLC provides a 1-year workmanship warranty for all wood floor installations. We also honor manufacturer warranties for the materials used. Our team will ensure you receive all product documentation and care instructions after installation.
